Welcome to the Florida Department of Financial Services course on Life Events. The goal of this learning experience is to assist you with making major decisions by determining how they will impact your future life and to help you make plans for living the life you want. After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

• Explain how major life decisions (college, vehicle, home, joining the workforce and retirement) can impact your current and future lifestyle.
• Set financial goals and timelines for major financial decisions.

This learning experience is designed to provide you with an overview about the major life events most people face. Each of those life events involves making decisions, some of which may impact the rest of your life. When you are contemplating spending money during a life event, there may be several thousand dollars at stake. If you decide to buy or lease a car, a few hundred dollars will be tied up every month for a few years.

Life Events is one of the financial literacy courses offered by the Florida Department of Financial Services. The purpose of these online learning experiences is to provide an interactive, engaging way for Floridians to learn about finances. The courses are free of charge and independent of one another; take them in any order, as often as you wish.
