  2. Fill it out.
  3. Get approved.
  4. Get the card.
  5. Spend, spend and spend some more.
  6. …And save money while you do it. (Rewards! Points! Free stuff! Oh, my!)

The thing is, it really does work that way, if you are careful by nature, disciplined and self-controlled, pay your bills on time, have a budget and savings in the bank and never experience a loss of income while you have a balance on your card (or cards, as the case may be).

However, the advertising does not tell you that.
