You probably already know if you tend to be a spender or a saver. Most people are both at different times in their lives. Compare yourself to these statements and see what you are right now (mostly). Remember, that all of the statements may not apply to you but take notice of which category has the most statements that describe you.

If you are a saver, you probably:

  • always have a little cash tucked away.
  • "use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without".
  • have a savings account, contribute to it regularly and check its balance periodically.
  • know exactly how much money you have right now.
  • manage your own finances.
  • are prepared for emergencies.
  • wait until something is on sale before buying it.
  • are known for being practical, logical and reasonable.

If you are a spender, you probably:

  • are always short on cash to meet needs.
  • have the latest technology, clothes, etc.; are on-trend regardless of your budget.
  • do not make regular contributions to a savings account.
  • withdraw money from savings often.
  • check balances only when worried about them.
  • allow others to handle your finances (friend, relative, banker).
  • pay for emergencies out of current income.
  • buy something as soon as you want or need it regardless of your budget.
  • are known for being spontaneous, imaginative and fun.
